Doc Barrister & his Harlem Four

Brian Graville, Reide "Barrister" Kaiser, Colin
"Doc" Bray and Jeff Healey Photo by John Grimley
This occasional band specializes in the music of the
early 1930s. Its leader, the flamboyant Doc Barrister, has a particular liking for the
stride piano of works of the late Fats Waller, James P. Johnson and Willie "The
Lion" Smith. They play infrequently in the Toronto area to wildly enthusiastic
audiences.
The hot combination features some of the best local
jazz musicians: Reide "Barrister" Kaiser (piano), Colin "Doc" Bray
(string bass), Brian Graville (trumpet) and Tomas Jardim (acoustic guitar) or Jeff Healey
(acoustic guitar). |
